Golden Earring exhibition at the Historical Museum of The Hague
The past, present and future of Holland's oldest rock band form the basis of the Golden Earring exhibition ‘Back Home’, taking place at Historical Museum of The Hague from 3 September 2011 - 26 February 2012. The exhibition allows visitors to experience the atmosphere of the Hague’s nightlife in the '60s and '70s and to get up close and personal with the
Experience the Hague rock band from a teenager's bedroom from the '60s, follow their (international) success on stage in the 70s and see how the band managed to reinvent themselves in the 80s and 90s.
The exhibition provides a rich picture of the band on the basis of numerous singles, LPs, posters, t-shirts, portraits and original instruments, such as the drum set of Cesar Zuiderwijk from the 70s, used in the video clip of Radar Love, among others.
During a joint project with The Hague Library, The Municipality of The Hague and ETV.nl, participants of the ‘Haagse verhalentafel’ (Hague stories table) have converted their personal memories of Golden Earring into a short film.
In association with Stichting Ritmundo, pop journalist Stan Rijven will be giving four lectures to coincide with the Golden Earring exposition 'Back Home' at the Historical Museum of The Hague (Haags Historisch Museum). Rijven will interview different guests and illustrate this period with film and music clips, explaining how Golden Earring, the most influential and active band at the time was able to flourish in the Hague. The lecture topics and dates are:
