Open Day at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK)

Ambition to become an artist or designer? The KABK is your starting point to success! On Saturday, 28 January 2012 the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (KABK) opens her doors to potential new students and public.


Have you always wondered what our students learn or are you curious whether a course at the Academy suits you? Have a look at the open day on 28 January, from 10:00 to 16:00.


Teachers, students and graduates of all departments are ready to answer your questions during the Open Day. Curious what kind of skills you’ll have after you graduate from the Academy? Graduates show their work and tell you about their work experience. Moreover, there are all kinds of activities like band performances, movies, exhibitions, short lectures and portfolio meetings.


Have a look in the studios and workshops in which students are working on their projects. The KABK offers a diversity of techniques and equipment; from old lithography to the newest 3D printing machine. Have you always wanted to own a true piece of art? You can buy contemporary work by students and alumni of the KABK at STOOR, situated at the Herengracht, around the corner of the KABK building. Join the department tour if you are interested in a specific department or course.

The Royal Academy of Art offers the following studies: ArtScience, Fine Arts, Photography, Graphic Design, Interactive/Media/Design, Interior Architecture and Furniture Design and Textile and Fashion. KABK also offers masters: Type and Media, Artistic Research, Interior Architecture and ArtScience. Would you like to focus on product design? The Post Graduate Course Industrial Design might be interesting for you. You can take lessons at the School for Young Talent or participate in a preparatory programme in order to prepare yourself for the Academy. In cooperation with the Academie der Kunsten (Universiteit Leiden) KABK offers master studies Media Technology an Film and Photographic Studies and the research programme PhDArts.

The Royal Academy of Art is located at the Prinsessegracht 4, opposite train station Den Haag Centraal. Seen from the front square of the station the building is situated on your left.
