Work vs. Workbook: Careers & courses at Feel at Home in The Hague Fair!

Looking for a new course of study or in need of a change of career? Make your way to atrium of The Hague’s city hall on Sunday, 19 September 2010 and attend the fifth annual Feel at Home in The Hague - The International Community Fair 2010, talking place from 11:00 - 17:00.

 

With the many educational and work institutions exhibiting their services at the fair, you are sure to find the right course or career path. At the very least, you will meet new contacts who might be able to direct your career or educational goals in the future. The organisations who will be exhibiting their services on this island at the fair include a range of language schools, primary, secondary and tertiary educational institutions, job agencies and businesses offering recreational courses.

 

Language

 

Looking to learn a new language or brush up on your Dutch? Language schools that will be present to exhibit their services include DnA Languages, Direct Dutch, Dutch for Expats, Kick Start Languages, Alliance Française de La Haye, English Breeze and The British School of The Netherlands Language Centre. Each of these organisations offer a different approach to the way in which they teach. Find the language course that suits your needs and goals by meeting the representatives at the fair.

 

Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Education

 

A number of primary, secondary and tertiary educational institutions will also be present to showcase what they offer for future or current students. Visitors will encounter representatives from Laureate International Universities (LIU), leading institutions of quality, innovative higher education. The Rijnlands Lyceum Foundation provides education in four schools for secondary education and one primary school. At the fair, representatives will be present to promote two schools under their wing - the International School of The Hague in Kijkduin who offer young people of all nationalities between the ages of 4 and 18 top quality international education and the Rijnlands Lyceum International School Oegstgeest, offering the Middle Years Programme and the International Baccalaureate diploma programme. This school also provides bilingual education at pre-university education level. The American School of The Hague will also be present to showcase their US based curriculum, comprised of 3 divisions: Elementary School (from Preschool to Grade 4), Middle School (Grades 5-8), and High School (Grades 9-12).

 

Webster University will also be present on the Careers & Education Island. Webster University is an accredited American University in The Netherlands, offering Bachelor and Master programs. With over 100 campuses in the US, Europe (Austria, Switzerland, UK and The Netherlands) and Asia (China, Thailand) and 22,000 students worldwide you are bound ti find the right course of tertiary education to suit your goals.

 

The New Business School Amsterdam will also be showcasing their courses on offer. The institution intends to bring onto the Dutch higher education market a new educational variant for ambitious students: An international programme of business studies at a private Business School, with English as the language of instruction.

 

 

Courses

 

For courses in music training, meet the faces behind the Virtuosi School of Music. The establishment coordinates the teaching activities of the international specialists based at the Royal Conservatoire, with the educational needs of the ex-patriate community.


Jo Parfitt helps writers and authors to get writing and get published. At the fair, she will be present to inspire writers to use their literary talent to write their own book, journal, blog or column. If you have children who are enthusiastic about books, Baynard Magazines for Kids will be present also. The magazines Story Box, Adventure Box and Discovery Box are published by Bayard Press, an international and Media Company who has gained a deservedly high reputation in the world for its high quality children magazines. For training and coaching in the area of communication and public speaking, meet two excellent Hague-based organisations. Powertalk International is a world-wide organisation of not-for-profit clubs providing professional coaching in effective speaking and presentation skills. Toastmasters is an international organisation that helps people to develop their communication and leadership skills.


Educational and Career Support

 

The Women’s Business Initiative International will also be present to guide entrepreneurial women towards making their career dreams a reality. The organisation brings their network of women together to create a community both online and in person through business-focused events and networking opportunities.

 

The career portal of Together Abroad provides information relating to jobs in Holland, internships and education in the Netherlands. Find their stand and talk to them personally about your working or learning goals.

 

A range of organisations offering support in a number of ways are also going to be present at the fair. Counselling International offer counselling, coaching and training. Empowering Learning offer fast, simple help with Learning Difficulties for all ages.

 

Lighthouse School for Special Education is the only English-speaking school for expat children with significant disabilities in the country, and one of two in all of Continental Europe. Lighthouse Special Education is part of the international stream of the Haagsche Schoolvereeniging (HSV) Dutch-International primary school system and serves children with disabilities from 3 - 14 years of age.
