Cultural highlights in the city hall!

The fifth annual Feel at Home in The Hague – The International Community Fair 2010 is just around the corner and the cultural program promises to be entertaining for visitors who are looking to find out all that The Hague has to offer its Expat, International and Internationally-minded local residents. Sunday, 19 September sees over 200 organisations present in the atrium of the city hall of The Hague to guide visitors through their various services, events and clubs. When you need a coffee break, head to the podium!

 

 

 

The performance podium will showcase a diverse selection of performances by a number of different organisations. From dance shows, to fun and interactive skill building activities; from Tai Chi to Belly Dancing, the podium will keep visitors entertained! The schedule is as follows:

11:25 - 11:40  Puppet Show by International Church of Leiden
11:45 - 12:05  Shen Yun Performing Art by Stichting Falun Gong
12:10 - 12:25   Improvisation Comedy by The Cyclepaths
12:30 - 12:45  Speech demonstrations by Powertalk
12:50 - 13:05  Dance performance by Xpectacolo
13:15 - 13:30  Chinese Art Festival Opening Ceremony
13:30 - 14:10  Chinese Art Festival Part 1 by the Green Lotus Foundation
14:10 - 14:20  Church choir by St. John and St. Philip Anglican Church
14:25 - 15:00  Chinese Art Festival Part 2 by the Green Lotus Foundation
15:05 - 15:20  Greg Shapiro: ‘How to be Orange’ sneak preview
15:25 - 15:40  Belly dance performance by Zahara Belly Dance
15:45 - 16:00  How to learn Dutch in a fun and efficient way by DNA Languages
16:05 - 16:20  Communication and leadership skills workshop by Toastmasters

* During the breaks between performances, there will be radio broadcasting by Den Haag Totaal.


The Chinese Art Festival will give visitors the chance to taste, feel and experience the beauty of Chinese arts and culture! Diverse artistic performances, such as Chinese folk music and folk dance shows, will be taking place during their segment on the podium. Guests can also enjoy a Chinese art exhibition, as well as traditional paper carving and calligraphy demonstrations.

The Kids Cultural Corner will ensure parents can relax and enjoy what's on offer at Feel at Home in The Hague - The International Community Fair 2010 while the kids are soaking up Chinese arts and culture. Drop the kids off at the Kids Cultural Corner to join in the Kids Art Workshop, taking place from 15:00-16:30.

 

 

Feel at Home in The Hague – The International Community Fair 2010 is a large scale community event which was initiated five years ago by TheHagueOnLine. The event provides visitors with cultural information on how to make the most out of their time in the region, as well as practical information to ease them into their new environment. Over 200 cultural organisations, sports and social clubs as well as service providers will be present to guide visitors through their events, services and clubs. The fair is an excellent opportunity to discover all there is to do during your free time in The Hague region, and to connect with other internationals and locals in the area.

 

Many of the organisations performing on the podium also have a stand at the fair. Make sure you visit their stand if you found their performance to be entertaining. They would love to meet you.

 

Doors open at 11:00, and tickets can be purchased upon arrival for € 5 each. Children under 18 may enter free of charge when accompanied by an adult.
