Netherlands will take on the Czech Republic at the Sportcampus Zuiderpark in The Hague on an indoor clay court when the two teams meet in the World Group play-offs on 15-17 September 2017.
The Czechs, champions in 2012 and 2013, fell to Australia in the first round this year, after losing to France in a quarterfinal clash in 2016.
History is on their side, though. In six previous meetings of these two nations, Netherlands has triumphed on just one occasion – their very first matchup, in 1925. The Czechs recorded a comfortable win the last time the teams met, a World Group first round tie in 2014.
The Dutch team will be confident, however, following recent wins over Sweden last year and Bosnia/Herzegovina in February’s Europe/Africa Zone Group I second round clash. They will also be hoping that home advantage can play a part in securing a World Group place for the first time since relegation three years ago.
