One of the pioneers of hip-hop DJing, cutting, scratching and mixing, Grandmaster Flash will be performing in the Paard on Sunday 25 February. Master of scratching and DJ-legend Grandmaster Flash shows you the history of hiphop in ‘’Hiphop, People, Places & Things’’. It is not only a performance where you can hear his huge talent, it also is a visual spectacle where his breaks, scratches and mix-skills are literally zoomed in.
Joseph Saddler, what his real name is, was responsible for one of the first great hits in the hip hop industry. He broke through with ‘The Message’ (with The Furious Five). Rolling Stone Magazine picked the song as the best and most influential hip hop song ever. Rapper Chuck-D praised: “The Message was a total knock out of the park. It was the first dominant rap group with the most dominant MC saying something that meant something. It was also the first song to tell, with hip-hop’s rhythmic and vocal force, the truth about modern inner-city life in America – you can hear its effect loud and clear on classic records by Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, N.W.A, the Notorious B.I.G. and even Rage Against the Machine.”
