The Hague’s very own music buff, Jen Buffington, shares what’s hot in The Hague region and beyond.
The chill is upon us, the days soon darker, but never you fret my fellow music buffs, there’s plenty to warm the soul.
Now in The Hague for 15 years, I ‘m surprised by those who feel there is little to do. Indeed, it can be difficult at first, so many niche spots, some only advertised in Dutch. But I love music, live music, the joy of arriving out of the wind and rain, at a warm cozy venue, a drink or two before the main treat.
So this season I’ll be sharing all the digging I do with you, the International Community. My focus is on the lesser known venues and acts. I too enjoy Big Acts at the Ziggo Dome etc., but those are more readily found by yourselves.
Did you know there’s a network of Listening Rooms in The Netherlands? I’ve stumbled upon award winning artists and brilliant new-comers in the quaintest of places: old churches, pubs, people’s homes.
I also encourage traveling for music just for the adventure of it, allowing the music to take you places you might never have seen. For instance! The talented Caroline Cotter (U.S.) will be playing in Boskoop, 30 minutes east of here, at the quaint Stables Music Center. Who but me is going to turn you on to that? 😉
This week alone

Every other week I’ll be sharing some Top Tips, perhaps a deeper look at an artist or band, and pointing you to my evolving list, found here. If this strikes a chord with you, do let us know.
