Dayna Kurtz to perform at Paard

(Wed 20 January 2010)

On Friday 29 January, US singer/songwriter Dayna Kurtz will be playing at The Hague's Paard van Troje, alongside country rock band Blue Mountain.

Dayna Kurtz's distinctive voice is siad to be reminiscent of that of Nina Simone. Her music is hard to place, with influences of country, world music, folk, rock, blues and chanson to be found and thus working on a unique work of timeless classics.
A good friend of Norah Jones, Kurtz plays the piano and sings in the song "I Got It Bad" on Jones's album Beautiful Yesterday.

The last few years have found Kurtz in the New York City music scene, but nowhere has the interest in Dayna's music been more pronounced than in Holland, where Dayna's debut studio album soared into the top 20 of the album charts on the strength of the hit single "Love Gets in the Way".

Kurtz headlined the Paradiso Theatre in Amsterdam in 2003, in front of 1000 people, in what would be her first of many sold out shows in the Netherlands in the months to follow. Dayna has since discovered a larger audience in Europe, and this spring alone will find her in Greece, Spain, Germany, Belgium and the UK.

Blue Mountain is an American country/roots rock band formed in 1991 in Oxford, Mississippi by husband and wife duo Cary Hudson (guitar and vocals) and Laurie Stirratt (bass and harmony vocals).

Catch this dynamic duo on 29 January, at Paard van Troje.

Time: Venue open 19:30 / Start 20:30
