ADO during the Winter break
After the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the entire ADO squad went to a summer training camp in Estepona, which is close to Marbella in Spain. The trip lasts between 5 and 12 January. During this period the team are being put through their paces in warm sunshine in preparation for the restart of the Eredivisie on 20 January at home to Roda JC.
Two friendly matches have been played and the first on the 8th was against Belgian side Zulte Waregem which ended 2-2, after ADO had gone two goals behind in the first ten minutes. In the second half, goals by van Duinen and Boussaboun got ADO back on level terms. ADO finished the game with only ten men left on then pitch after Boussaboun got a red card after getting involved in a minor scuffle.

The second game was against much tougher opposition that came in the shape of Hamburg SV of Germany. The result, a 2-1 win for Hamburg. The score did not justify ADO’s possession throughout the game. Both Verhoek’s had several great chances to finish of Hamburg, but only Chery got himself on the score sheet. This display should give the perfect lift to the ADO squad as they looked in control and the passing and movement was of a high calibre.

There was some good news for ADO fans as their much admired goalkeeper Gino Coutinho signed a two year extension to his contract. A player truly loved by the ADO supporters. Other good news is that Mandy van den Bergh has been voted the best female player in the Netherlands.
