Telecom Price War Starts Tomorrow
(Tue 30 June 2009)
The cost to consumers of telephones, internet and digital television will be hundreds of euros less per year after a new law comes into effect tomorrow. This will put a stop to the current practice whereby existing telecom contracts are automatically renewed unless the customer specifically gives notice of cancellation within a certain period.
This is likely to unleash a price war among providers in order to keep their subscribers. Market research shows that consumers have little or no brand loyalty and will be prepared to move to the provider offering the best deal.
