High-Speed Trains
(Tue 08 September 2009)
Yesterday saw the start of the high-speed train service between Amsterdam and Rotterdam, stopping at Schiphol, Leiderdorp, Roelofsarendsveen and Zoetermeer. The trains will travel at a speed of 160 kmph, saving 20 minutes on the journey between Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The service is expected to attract commuters, who will, however, have to pay an extra seven euros for the ticket.
The first real high-speed train service between Amsterdam and Paris will start at the end of December or the beginning of January, nearly two years later than planned. These trains will travel at 300 kmph.
