Enquiry into Defective Bank Cards
The Consumers’ association has set up a hotline for complaints about the quality of bank cards. They are attempting to get an overall picture of which banks provide the worst cards, what the most frequent problems are and how banks deal with complaints.
The Association also says that banks have different pricing policies. ING charges € 7.50 to replace a non-working bank card, Fortis and ABN Amro only charge if the client asks for a replacement twice within a year.
The Consumers’ Association believes that replacements should be free unless it is s clear that the client has been careless. Problems can also be caused by the reader in the ATM, so people are being asked to specify whether they experience problems with specific cash machines.
