Iranian Students Permitted to Follow Nuclear Studies
(Thu 04 February 2010)
A court in The Hague yesterday ruled that students from Iran are allowed to follow courses in nuclear studies in the Netherlands. Until now, they had been banned from some of the master’s degree courses as well as from visiting the nuclear plants in Petten and Borssele. This sanction had been imposed by the Ministers of Education and Foreign Affairs in response to a decision by the UN Security Council and was intended to prevent the students acquiring information that could lead to the manufacture of nuclear weapons. The judge ruled that the students were being stigmatised and discriminated against.
