Albert Heijn want their beesies back

(Mon 05 July 2010)

A spokesman for Albert Heijn confirmed on Saturday its message of asking the public to hand in the “beesies” back to their store branches after the World Cup games are over.

Beesies are the fluffy red, white, blue and orange caterpillar giveaways Albert Heijn has been handing out for their world Cup marketing campaign. Every fifteen-euro purchase in any of their branches entitles the customer to one beesie.

Certain companies and organisations have approached Albert Heijn asking if they could get the stuffed toys back. They are assuming that clients may not want or have no need for the beesies after the World Cup and would like to recollect the giveaways for a good cause, rather than the toys ending up in the trash.

Marketing agency Opinionators on the other hand already launched the “Return to Sender” campaign this week. It is an initiative, which encourages the public to return the millions of orange costumes and decorations back to their sources. They want to encourage the public to be more conscious of reducing trash and recycling objects no longer of use.
