Luxury hotels lower rates

(Thu 29 July 2010)

The average price of a five-star hotel room in the Netherlands went down to € 201 last year, compared with € 231 in 2008 and a four-star hotel room has an average decreased rate of eight euro to € 95, according to calculations by accountancy group KPMG.

The drop in hotel prices is due to the decrease in business travels and corporations have shifted their preferences for business trip bookings to three-star hotels.

The average occupancy rate fell to 62.5% last year, down five percent from 2008.
