My name is Dan Nicholas and I’m a jazz guitarist from New York City. Inspired by the Hague’s rich musical environment, I moved here in 2001 and have made it my business to help sustain a great jazz scene here ever since. In 2007 I founded EJP (Equinox Jazz Promotions), an organization dedicated to presenting an extremely high level of local and international jazz artists at a number of different venues throughout the city.
February at Pavlov will feature a stellar lineup including two of Holland’s most accomplished soloists. Not to be missed on the 11th will be veteran trombonist Bart van Lier, who recently retired from the Metropole Orchestra, and is focusing on small group performances these days, especially with his quartet featuring the sensational pianist Rob van Bavel.
The 18th offers the Caspar van Wijk/ Tom van der Zaal Quintet, a group of young talents rounded out with veteran drummer Joost van Schaik.
Closing out the month on the 25th will be a band led by the extraordinary vibraphonist Frits Landesbergen, one of the most exciting and heartfelt musicians to come out of The Netherlands.
