The so-called ‘star bicycle route’ on the Conradkade was officially opened on 13 April. Over the last few months a portion of the city’s new fast bike route to Scheveningen harbour has been completed.
A portion of the bicycle route along the Conradkade between the Groot Hertoginnelaan and the Van Boetzelaarlaen has now been upgraded. There is now a cycle path for traffic in 2 directions. The intersections between the Conradkade and the Groot Hertoginnelaan and the President Kennedylaan have been made safer and more bicycle-friendly.
The star bike route to Scheveningen harbour runs via the Noordwal, De Constant Rebecquestraat, Suezkade and Conradkade. The Conradkade between the Laan van Meerdervoort and Groot Hertoginnelaan has been turned into a one-way street.
The municipality and the Dutch Cyclists’ Union (Fietsersbond) are working together so that cyclists can have a comfortable route through the city. A number of busy cycle paths will be improved and joined together into cycling routes. These bike routes will become part of the so-called ‘star route’ network.
