The Hague gemeente   plans to redesign the Wagenstraat and Stationsweg in the coming years in order to create a more attractive entry point to the city centre   from Hollands Spoor train station.

Cyclists and pedestrians will get more space  and the surroundings will become greener.

The plans were drawn up together with vested neighbourhood groups, including residents, businesses and interest organisations. The pans include the following:

The intersections with the Amsterdamse Veerkade, Stille Verkade and Hoefkade will be paved with  bricks  to create cohesion for the Haagse Loper between the train station and the centre.

The area will remain a restricted-traffic zone and  buildings and spaces will get more characteristic lighting as well as  200 extra parking spots for bicycles.

The public spaces by the Wagen bridge will get green seating areas. A new row of trees will be planted on one side of the Wagenstraat and new trees, hedges, green sections and flower planters will be added.

Huygenspark will get an extra green section with seating and public toilet facilities.

If the gemeente agrees to the plan, work can start in April 2018.
