Last week, The gemeente  began working on Part 2 of the  Kijkduin-Houtrust roadworks  project.

The Kijkduin-Houtrust road is a busy route between Kijkduin and Scheveningen. This route will get a new design in the coming months. The road will get a more orderly structure. And it will become safer for pedestrians and cyclists. The route goes from the Machiel Vrijenhoeklaan by the Kijkduinsestraat intersection, along the Sportlaan to the Segbroeklaan. Each day some 20,000 vehicles use this route.

During Part 2, the Machiel Vrijenhoeklaan is  closed between the petrol station and De Savornin Lohmanlaan. The first  part will remain closed. The intersection with the Muurbloemweg will be closed to motorised traffic. It will be accessible to pedestrians, cyclists and emergency service vehicles. The petrol station will remain accessible.

Sewage works and new road lay-out

The work will be carried out in this order:

  • The asphalt will be broken apart and removed.
  • The sewer pipes will be replaced.
  • The new lay-out of the road will be created. This will take place until 20 June. Between 20 June and 5 July no work will be carried out on the Kijkduin-Houtrust route during the Volvo Ocean Race. The route will be open to all traffic during this period.
  • The work on the intersection of the Daal en Bergselaan will be ready on 5 July. The intersection will then be open. This will be Part 3 of the project.

In the 1st week of July 2018 Part 4 of the work on the Segbroeklaan will begin. Area residents will receive a letter from the municipality at the beginning of June with more information and an invitation for the information evening on 18 June.
