Telecommunications company KPN wants to reduce costs at its headquarters in The Hague by 30 to 40 percent by the end of 2013.
KPN announced the impeding cuts during the publication of its first quarterly results on Tuesday.
It was also announced that KPN planned to cut the workforce by 4,000 - 5,000 jobs two years earlier than planned.
The reorganization will probably be complete by 2013 instead of late 2015 as originally expected.
The jobs will mostly disappear in the support functions. How many jobs will go at the headquarters in The Hague, KPN will not say to say.
