Thick mist descended onto the beaches of Zuid Holland Monday to dissipoint beachgoers with very cool weather.
Due to the mist, the temperature fell to 14 to 15 degrees. The chill however was considerably lower.
The combination of warm air from the land and the cold sea breeze created dense and persistent fog.
The fog caused problems for the pilot of a light Cessna aircraft, who may have had difficulties with visibility.
His crashed aircraft was found on the coast near Rotterdam after he flew from Zeeland. He and three others aboard were severely injured during the crash.
