Police in The Hague on Wednesday arrested one of two 19-year-old youths wanted in connection with the murder of a jewellery shop owner last week.
Ruud Stratmann, 47, was killed during a robbery at his shop in the city last Wednesday. Police released security camera footage of the incident showing the two suspects, which led to over 50 tip-offs.
One man, Ziya B, was picked up shortly before midnight, news agency ANP said on Wednesday. At least 35 police officers were involved in the arrest.
According to Nos television, B's mother had made an appeal for her son to turn himself in.
The second man, Sandro G., was assumed to have fled to Belgium and the Belgian authorities were alerted.
Later on Wednesday night, the Dutch embassy in Tbilisi Georgia announced G. had turned himself in to embassy staff.
G. had fled to Georgia and according to a spokesperson from The Hague police, had gone to the embassy with members of his family.
On Wednesday, a public farewell was held at his jewellery store on the Beeklaan. Stratmann will be cremated on Friday.
