Thiemo de Bakker has won The Hague Open Tennis Tournament 2018. In the final of the challenger tournament on the Metsbanen in Scheveningen, the Dutchman had no problems with the first placed German Yannick Maden, winning 6-2, 6-1. De Bakker, 290th in the world ranking, had a tough opponent on paper with Maden, number 132 in the world. In practice, it was easy for the 29-year-old Westlander to succeed. Local Action Group Stop Subsidy for Shell at Generation Discover Festival

The municipality of The Hague receives a compliment from the citizens’ movement The Hague Fossil free. The reason for this is the decision of the municipality to no longer cooperate with the Generation Discover Festival on the Malieveld by giving Shell a subsidy. Roverway 2018 Bringing International Scouting Scene to Scheveningen and The Hague

Monday, July 23 will mark the start of Roverway, an international event for scouts between 16 and 22 years from all over Europe, organised once every three years. First Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans will make the opening and will talk to the scouts. After the opening show, the 4,500 scouts will spend the night at the beach. €15 Million Transport Development Funds from Metropolitan Region Rotterdam

The Metropolitan Region Rotterdam The Hague will invest € 15 million in a program that will further develop Automatic Transport on the Last Mile (AVLM). This program connects initiatives of MRDH municipalities in the field of AVLM and seeks (co)funding to further these initiatives. President Muhammadu Buhari arrived Sunday evening at Rotterdam-Thehague airport ahead of a keynotes speech at the International Criminal Court for the 20th anniversary  of the Rome Statute’s adoption.
