Ai Weiwei: Relating to Refugees

Two rooms of the Humanity House are covered with thousands of iPhone photos that artist and activist Ai Weiwei made in refugee camps in Germany, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, Gaza and Kenya. Relating to Refugees (2016) represents the enormous size of the current refugee crisis.

Faces expressing hope and despair, deflated lifeboats, discarded life jackets, improvised cities and everyday life are captured in over 16,500 images captured by Ai Weiwei with his iPhone during his visits to refugee camps in Germany, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, Gaza and Kenya. Together, the images of Relating to Refugees reflect the immense size of the refugee crisis.
