Boat Trips from The Hague to Delft

Join the boat trip through the lush landscape between Delft and The Hague. Enjoy the view of beautiful estates, windmills and meadows along the ‘Vliet’. With the ‘Vlietvaart’, which is part of the ‘Ooievaart’, you can make a boat trip in the months of May till October from the center of The Hague to Delft, via Museum Hofwijck in Voorburg, and back. You can break off your journey at the museum in Delft and continue on your own or use the boat to travel back to The Hague.

Route
This boat trip is organised by the ‘Ooievaart’ from May till October. The trip takes you along the tow path between The Hague, Voorburg, Rijswijk and Delft. The same route where centuries ago track boats would go up and down. During the journey you can enjoy the view, the stately manors and the lush green between the historical cities that make up the suburb. The ‘ Vlietvaart’ offers the possibility to alight in Voorburg for a visit to Museum Hofwijck. This used to be the former home of two illustrious characters from the Golden Age, Constantijn en Christiaan Huygens. You can return a few hours later by boat or  continue your journey on your own.

Hopping on and off
The ‘Vlietvaart’ departs from the historical harbour in The Hague (Bierkade 18b). The boats anchors for a short period at Museum Hofwijck and upon request also at the Kerkbrug in Voorburg. For the passengers it is possible to hop on or hop off. The journey continues to Delft, ending at the Koepoortstraat. The return journey takes the same route.

Return from Delft to The Hague
Apart from a single journey from Voorburg or Delft it is also possible to make a return. In the months May, June and October the boat returns after a short stop in Delf. In the months July till September the boat will depart from Delft after a short delay. In this summer period, as it is the year of Vermeer, a walk is organised through the street of Vermeer and a boat trip on the Schie. On the way back also the Museum Hofwijck is visited. In case you want to take public transport to make your way back to The Hague there is the choice between tram line 1 or the train.
