The Hague breathes peace and justice. The ambition of ‘Stichting The Hague UNited for Peace and Justice’ is to build on this foundation with the aim to give peace & justice an important place in the hearts and actions of our inhabitants, entrepreneurs and organizations. The foundation connects educational institutions, cultural institutions, international organizations and NGOs that are promoting and working on peace and justice in The Hague. Since 2014, the partners organize activities during the Just Peace festival in the week leading up to the International Day of Peace of the United Nations on 21 September. The program of the festival consists of a mix of debate, performing arts, museum activities, sports and music, during which peace & justice are the main themes. The Just Peace festival annually attracts around 40,000 visitors. Since the beginning of 2018, in addition to the festival in September, the partners have started to organize peace & justice activities throughout the whole year.
The current institutions cooperating with the foundation are the Peace Palace, Museon, ProDemos, the Oranjehotel Foundation, The Hague Historical Museum/The Prison Gate, Humanity House, University Campus The Hague, The Hague Bridge, The National Theatre, HagueTalks and Peace in the Park.
Chairman of the organizing foundation The Hague UNited for Peace & Justice, Martin Wörsdörfer; “The Hague is the International city of Peace and Justice, and with the Just Peace festival that is emphasized even more. With a varied program, we want to let people experience themselves during the festival how they can contribute to a better world ”.
The Hague Peace Night Run
This Night Run is a unique experience run and the ideal mix of sport, fun and excitement. The approximately 8.5 km long trail guarantees a fairytale spectacle of fire, light, mysticism and sound, but is otherwise as dark as the night and is only illuminated in a few places! Every participant therefore walks with a running light.
