September 12, 2019 – September 15, 2019 all-day
KLM Open 2019

The 100th edition of the KLM Dutch Open will be played from 12 to 15 September 2019 on The International golf course in Amsterdam. It promises to be a very special edition with a special players field and many extra activities and entertainment for the public.

Patrick Reed – aka Captain America – enriches the 100-year KLM Open

Together with Joost Luiten, Thomas Pieters, Matt Wallace and Lee Westwood, among others

Ticketholders of the 100th edition of the KLM Open can look forward to a extraordinary  star studded field this year. In addition to the previously announced Sergio Garcia, the most successful Ryder Cup player ever, fans can also look forward to Patrick Reed, aka Captain America in action. Both outspoken and rather colorful Ryder Cup stars recently also won the Masters tournament. Garcia did that in 2017 and Reed in 2018. Together with many other world class players, this duo can be seen at the oldest international sports tournament in the Netherlands from 12 to 15 September.

More Ryder Cup stars with Westwood and Pieters

Reed and Garcia are not the only Ryder cup stars who make their appearance at The International in Amsterdam. Lee Westwood was selected ten times for this legendary battle between America and Europe, of which he won seven times. The former number one in the world plays competes in the KLM Open the twelfth time. Westy won in 1999 at the Hilversumsche. In addition to his victory, he finished third three times and once fifth.

Former Ryder Cup player Thomas Pieters won the KLM Open in 2015. Now the triple European Tour winner will go up for his second title. The 27-year-old Belgian, together with Thomas Detry, has also become world champion and is keen for more success.

Matt Wallace ceiling not yet reached

In 2018, Wallace won no less than three times on the European tour and the Englishman seemed on his way to Ryder Cup selection in the same year. That turned out to be a bridge too far. But experts think that this was just a bump in a career that has not yet reached its ceiling. In May of this year, Wallace finished in shared third place in the US PGA Championship, with which his focus on the Majors immediately paid off.

Title defender Joost Luiten

Joost Luiten thrilled the Dutch public with his two KLM Open victories in 2013 and 2016. In 2018, Luiten had to be absent due to a wrist injury. In this anniversary edition, the defending champion will compete against a very strong field of participants. Luiten will need the help of the home crowd if he wants to beat this star ensemble to win his third title.

More about Patrick Reed

Masters winner and Ryder Cup star Patrick Reed will make his debut at the KLM Open. The American is an absolute world class with five wins on the American Tour, including the Masters 2018 and the WGC Cadillac Championship 2016. Reed distinguished himself in the Ryder Cup where he made his debut in 2014 with 3.5 points from four games. His memorable Ryder Cup match against Rory McIlroy in 2016 has entered the books as one of the most exciting but also entertaining matches ever. It is not for nothing that the outspoken Reed was nicknamed “Captain America”. Not only because of his good playing, but also because of his exuberant cheer and whipping up the audience. He is a lifetime honorary member of the European Tour and is a welcome player anywhere in the world.

Good accessibility thanks to sponsor Schiphol

The KLM Open has a special new partner this year. Schiphol Airport has committed itself as a sponsor for this 100th edition by making Schiphol parking areas available to all visitors to the tournament. Shuttle buses are used from parking lot P4 to transport visitors to the entrance of the site. The transport from the parking lot to the entrance of the KLM Open takes 15 minutes.

The KLM Open has been innovative for 100 years

The KLM Open has always excelled in atmosphere and innovation and the tournament is therefore one of the most visited tournaments of the European Tour with 45,000 spectators over four tournament days. The KLM Open is known for three years now for the concept that brings a whole new dynamic in golf for both players and the public. “Beat the Pro” has become a spectacle worldwide that players look forward to and commentators do not get over it.
