Les Misérables @ HNT

The masterpiece by copywriter Alain Boublil and composer Claude-Michel Schoenberg after the famous book by Victor Hugo about the class struggle in France after the fall of Napoleon, played, sung and danced by students of the jubilating Free Theater School in The Hague.

France, 1815:
After being imprisoned in a penal colony for 19 years, Jean Valjean is released. Although the world around him wants nothing to do with an ex-prisoner, Valjean repents and intends to become a good person.

In the years that followed, Valjean worked his way up to become factory owner and village mayor. When factory worker Fantine, just before her death, hands over the care for her young daughter Cosette to Valjean, he seems to finally be able to rise above herself and his past.

Valjean and Cosette move to Paris and live a happy but withdrawn life there, until in 1832 a big student riot breaks out and totally turns their lives upside down…

After ANAT3VKA, WEST SIDE STORY, MAMMA MIA !, OLIVER !, SWEENEY TODD and ANNIE, the students of the Vrije Theater School venture into our epic musical classic for the entire family as the crowning glory of our first anniversary season: LES MISÉRABLES shows all their talent and enthusiasm see the theater, singing and dance in detail.
