Lieve Stad is Amsterdam’s annual festival in which everyone celebrates the diversity of the city. Bundled in a week and a half, they present several performances that tell personal stories about the city, offer fresh perspectives and meet with the (still) unknown. Dear City, is a declaration of love for the city.

Everyone is welcome!

For a week and a half the International Theatre Amsterdam will present dance and theater performances that tell personal stories about the city, offer fresh perspectives and meet with the (still) unknown.

As a theater in the heart of the city, ITA is there for all residents. That is why they make theater for everyone in the city, because theater is the ultimate connection between people. Lieve Stad – inspired by the words of former mayor Eberhard van der Laan – is a declaration of love for the city of Amsterdam and its diversity of inhabitants.

With Lieve Stad, we celebrate our differences – whether they are cultural, social, economic or physical. We are about bringing people together; in the city, in the theater, in society. How do we live together and which stories do all individuals and groups carry with them? How do these stories connect us? Showing, hearing and feeling this is the starting point of Lieve Stad ,.
