Opera at Omniversum - Tchaikovsky, Verde and more!

Eva-Maria Westbroek shines in Tchaikovsky’s most ambitious opera with his most beautiful music. The Queen of Spades, after a novel by Pushkin, is an oppressive ghost story full of unfulfilled desires.
The poverty-stricken soldier Gherman is in love with Liza, the fiancée of his best friend Jeletski. When Gherman hears that Liza’s grandmother knows a formula for winning cards, he decides to get her the secret and win a fortune to marry Liza.

He is determined to cure her from her tuberculosis. The loving couple exchanges Paris for a quiet life in the countryside. Their happiness, however, comes to an end after a visit from Alfredo’s father.

A star cast led by diva Anna Netrebko can be admired in Verdi’s epic and ambitious opera La forza del destino, a tragedy about love, obsession and revenge. The marquis of Calatrava forbids a marriage of his daughter Leonora with Don Alvaro. He just manages to prevent them from marrying in secret. In the following scuffle Alvaro accidentally kills the Marquis. Dying, he cursed his daughter. Leonora and Alvaro are on the run, chased by Leonora’s brother Don Carlos who wants to avenge his father.

Experience the elegance and decadence of Paris in 1870 in Faust, David McVicar’s spectacular and eye-pleasing production of Gounod’s most beloved opera. Disillusioned in life, Faust calls for the help of Satan. The devil Méphistophélès appears and concludes a deal with the old philosopher: he gives him youth and the beautiful Marguerite in exchange for his soul. Faust agrees and Méphistophélès makes Marguerite lose interest in her beloved Siébel and falls in love with Faust.
