The Hague Road Runners present their summer marathon event. The coast keeps its appeal. The sea, the waves in the surf, the feeling of the wind on your face, sun, snow, rain, the smell of the salt water, the sight of the beach, the dunes, the seagulls, the sound of water and wind, timeless. That is why we organise a marathon every second Sunday of January through July.
We run and walk for a good cause: the proceeds are mainly for the house De Schakel near Loosduinen in The Hague, which has been close to the community for more than 30 years. De Schakel is a care centre where children with disabilities can live from the age of 6 to 20 years without compromising the medical care they need. De Schakel is one of such houses run by Middin. The proceeds will mainly go to organising outings and other extra activities that make the lives of these children more pleasant.
For the sake of ease, we depart from and arrive at the clubhouse of HRR. You can use the dressing rooms and showers of the association. Your clothes and things will stay in the clubhouse during the marathon, although your belongings will not be guarded during your absence; the changing rooms are accessible to others. That Sunday afternoon the bar of the club is staffed by members of the club and open for food and drinks.
