This Valentine’s Day, WereldDansWerkPlaats celebrates love in the Atrium City Hall in The Hague. In the beating heart of the city, different cultures celebrate love together. There are workshops in Zumba, Tango and Couple & Duo Rollerskating. You can also have your future predicted in love by a fortune teller from the puppet theater! Everyone is welcome with or without (dance) partner to dance together, follow workshops or watch the performances.
PROGRAM FOR THE VALENTINE’S JAM
During this evening all sorts of dance styles will pass by, you can come with or without (dance) partner, follow workshops and watch all demonstrations and performances. Here is a selection from the program.
Caribbean Zumba – Shalini Bholasing (Demonstration & Workshop)
Do you also feel so cold during these winter months? Get ready for a Caribbean Zumba work-out. Shalini Bholasing takes you to the tropics and you will completely forget the cold. Stop thinking and start shaking!
Love fortune teller puppet – Ludmilla & Catherine Gardner (Performance)
During the Valentine’s Jam, everyone can receive a love consultation from Nikolayevna Popova. She is a handsome Russian lady from Siberia. She is the mother of five children and grandmother of fifteen grandchildren. Her husband Ivan has run away to work at the Moscow State Circus and now she is looking for a new love.
African percussion – Attaaya (performance)
Arno Willekes is originally a multi-instrumentalist and since 1995 he switched to Djembé, Doundoun and Sabar drums from Senegal in particular. With his percussion group Attaaya he brings live afrovibes to the Atrium.
Tango Centro (Performance & Workshop)
The Argentine tango school Tango Centro has already performed in the Atrium, such as during the dance event Stadsbal. With a performance and a workshop led by Anita van der Helm, it will be a sultry dance evening.
Beweigi – Urban / Afro (Performance)
The urban / afro talents from the Laakkwartier in The Hague give a performance by Beweigi, which stands for dynamic, energetic and raw. With a trendy medley, 2 dance groups face each other.
Tribal Fusion Bellydance – Vleer (Performance)
The dance style of Hague teacher Vleer is Tribal Fusion / Dark Fusion mixed with Hip Hop and Butoh, resulting in a unique dance style.
Couple & Duo Rhythm Roller Skating Foundation Es Quint Foundation (Demonstration & Workshop)
Rollerskating is back again. Anno 2019, the Urban Freestyle Rhythm Roller Skating has developed enormously worldwide and the puberty of modern roller skating is miles behind the underground practitioners and fans of today. Es Quint Foundation from The Hague occupies a unique position within the global roller skating community, by promoting the diversity of roller skates. In couple skating, a duo rolls together rhythmically and keeps each other in balance, while one leads and the other follows. During the Valentine’s Jam Es Quint gives a short workshop, after which you can roll yourself on the floor. Tons of fun to try out with friends or partners!
