The Hague’s very own music buff, Jen Buffington, shares what’s hot in The Hague region and beyond.

Buffs do not live by music alone! This Friday is your chance to discover The Hague’s own Urban Farmers and enjoy their monthly Rooftop Music Night. The lineup is still a mystery, but why not take your tastes on a journey?

Spoil your senses with fresh food, fresh music, and a fresh outlook across our city from Europe’s biggest rooftop farm. The event details can be found here.

The Zwarte Ruiter is the place for me Saturday night. “The Dead South” are a lively mix of indie folk, bluegrass, and a bit of alternative country. They’ve Sold Out across Germany and eastern NL, so this free-for-all demands an early turn-up.  They start late (23:30) but the artist playing prior, Devarrow, is a talented troubador out of New Brunswick. Devarrow is another up and comer who blends a variety of influences into his fresh folk-pop sound. Having learned that he’s opened for the phenomenal Rose Cousins ~ I’m there!  You can find out more here

Sunday…. Sunday will be a locals only secret session. It will be my first time and, depending on my experience, will decide if I share. Not to sound pessimistic, quite the contrary. Sometimes an experience can be so gezellig that you want to keep it to yourself for a while. Of course, if anyone is really wanting to know, just drop me a line 😉

As I mentioned when first introducing myself, my mission is to seek out the lesser-known quality acts, to help bring fellow music buffs and fresh, emerging talent together. Sure I like many of the bigger acts, at the Ziggo Dome, the Heineken Music Hall… but those are easy to find. For more gezellig concerts a little further out check out my hand selected list here.

See you in the footlights!
