EJP September Jazz Rundown

My name is Dan Nicholas and I’m a jazz guitarist from New York City. Inspired by the Hague’s rich musical environment, I moved here in 2001 and have made it my business to help sustain a great jazz scene here ever since. In 2007 i founded EJP (Equinox Jazz Promotions), an organization dedicated to presenting an extremely high level of local and international jazz artists at a number of different venues throughout the city. In addition to our 10 year run of Sunday afternoons at Bar Restaurant Pavlov(4-6 pm), You can currently find us on Sunday evenings at Le Duc on Noordeinde (9-11:30pm).

While the Hague jazz season doesn’t kick into high gear until October, September has some fine concerts in store at Bar Restaurant Pavlov. On Sunday the 10th, Drummer Danny Kegel will host a quintet featuring tenor sax titan Simon Rigter, and the splendid Italian pianist and vocalist Francesca Tandoi.

On the 17th, One of the world’s single finest exponents of jazz guitar playing will be featured, namely, the great Martijn van Iterson. Joining will be the equally stellar pianist Juraj Stanik – truly one of Europe’s best.

On the 24th spellbinding Catalan singer Nadia Basurto will perform with the Miguel Rodriguez Trio. Pianist Rodriguez hails from Madrid, and is one of the most gifted jazz musicians on the Dutch scene. Sunday nights at Le Duc continue to go strong, and offer the most intimate and authentic jazz setting in Den Haag.
