My name is Dan Nicholas and I’m a jazz guitarist from New York City. Inspired by the Hague’s rich musical environment, I moved here in 2001 and have made it my business to help sustain a great jazz scene here ever since. In 2007 i founded EJP (Equinox Jazz Promotions), an organization dedicated to presenting an extremely high level of local and international jazz artists at a number of different venues throughout the city. In addition to our 10 year run of Sunday afternoons at Bar Restaurant Pavlov(4-6 pm, Spui 173)), You can currently find us on Thursday (6-8pm) & Saturday (9-12pm) evenings at Grand Cafe Victoria (Prins Hendrikplein 10), and Sunday evenings at Cafe Le Duc (9:30-12:00pm, Noordeinde 137).

Sundays in November at Pavlov feature a wide array of Holland’s top jazz musicians. 4/11 will be trumpeter Ian Cleaver’s Trio with three of the country’s most outstanding young talents, plus tenor saxophone master Jasper Blom. 11/11 brings world class American vocalist Marjorie Barnes who has worked with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Lena Horne, and Marcus Miller, plus legendary Dutch trombonist Bart van Lier. 18/11 will feature pianist Timothy Banchet in trio with the great Eric Ineke on drums, and a very special “Mystery Guest Artist” from the USA. Finishing off the month on the 25th is Vibraphone giant (metaphorically, but literally as well) Frits Landesbergen, one of Holland’s most beloved jazz artists. There will be an additional concert at Pavlov the evening of Monday the 19th from 9-11 pm, with Los Angeles based tenor saxophonist Doug Webb, along with the Rein de Graaff Trio. Not to be missed
