My name is Dan Nicholas and I’m a jazz guitarist from New York City. Inspired by the Hague’s rich musical environment, I moved here in 2001 and have made it my business to help sustain a great jazz scene here ever since. In 2007 i founded EJP (Equinox Jazz Promotions), an organization dedicated to presenting an extremely high level of local and international jazz artists at a number of different venues throughout the city. In addition to our 10 year run of Sunday afternoons at Bar Restaurant Pavlov(4-6 pm, Spui 173)), You can currently find us on Thursday (6-8pm) & Saturday (10pm-12:30pm) evenings at Grand Cafe Victoria (Prins Hendrikplein 10).
EJP brings a variety of great concerts to Den Haag each weekend in April: Saturdays at Victoria include the long running “Organ Grinder” organ/guitar/drums trio on the 6th, The Hague’s unique soul blues and jazz singer songwriter Toine Scholten on the 13th, and NYC’s Michael Vitali trio on the 28th. Sundays at Pavlov feature a great lineup: on the 7th, Jazz Diva Marjorie Barnes will take the stage with her backing band Equinox. The 14th will bring the Netherlands most exciting and popular jazz musician, alto saxophonist Benjamin Herman. The 21st will feature two hard hitting New York City Veterans, tenor saxophonist Ken Fowser, and bassist Marcos Varela. And on the 28th, the incredible tenor saxophonist Fernando Sanchez will take the stage along with NYC’s Michael Vitali Trio.
