The Judo Bond Nederland (JBN) and the International Judo Federation (IJF) on 13 February signed an agreement to organise an IJF Grand Prix in The Hague.

This prestigious competition, with 450 participants from 70 countries, will take place in the new Hague Sport Campus in Zuiderpark from 2017 to 2020. The first edition takes place during the weekend of 17 to 19 November 2017.

The Grand Prix is part of the IJF World and in 2018 and 2019 there are highly valuable ranking points to be earned in The Hague in the qualifications for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Deputy Mayor Rabin Baldewsingh (Sport) is looking forward to hosting the Grand Prix in The Hague. ‘The city of The Hague is investing each year in recreational and professional sports. Judo is a new sport for us and we have added this self-defence sport as a spearhead in our professional sports policy.’

The Hague recently hosted top sporting events such as the Beach Volleyball World Championships in 2015 and the Hockey World Cup in 2014.
