The Municipality of The Hague will assign nearly € 3 million in funding for events and large festivals in the city in 2019.
Something for everyone
The Hague is a lively city with a lot going on. The municipality thinks it is important that there is something for everybody, such as the Sniester music festival and the traditional Vlaggetjesdag. But also the City-Pier-City Run, Jazz in the Gracht and the International Fireworks Festival in Scheveningen are part of The Hague’s annual agenda.
30 applicants, 18 granted
The municipality received a total of 30 applications for financial support. The Municipal Executive decided to grant €2.5 million to 18 events. In addition, it reserved €400,000 for the coming year for the Promotiefonds Kleinschalige Publieksevenementen (Promotional fund for small-scale public events).
For the first time the municipality will give 8 leading events the chance to grow through multiple-year financial support (2019 – 2022). These events include the City-Pier-City Run, Liberation Festival, The Life I Live (King’s Night + King’s Day), Parkpop, Vlaggetjesdag, International Fireworks Festival, Jazz in de Gracht, Royal Christmas Fair and the arrival of Sinterklaas.
