Two initiatives from The Hague have been nominated for the Appeltjes van Oranje (Apples from Oranges, a social initiative non-profit with a prize money of €15,000): A vending machine from the ANWB and the project Forsa from Bureau MHR. A total of 40 projects have been nominated for the annual prize awarded by the Oranje Fonds to exceptional social projects.
The theme of the Appeltjes van Oranje is this year “The power of being together; Volunteers participate (r)! “. This means that all contenders can mobilize volunteers in an extraordinary way and know how to enthuse others. Bureau MHR works from disadvantaged neighborhoods on the rehabilitation and reintegration of ex-detainees with a non-Western background. The other nominated Hague initiative is from the ANWB, called AutoMaatje. There, volunteers transport their less mobile local residents for a small expense allowance.
Voting on this, or one of the thirty-eight others, is possible until Wednesday, January 16 via the website of the Oranje Fonds.
