The Scheveningen district is launching a new range of district budgets

Last Saturday, residents of Duinoord received € 30,000 to improve the neighbourhood. After the success of the Scheveningen-Dorp neighbourhood budget, Scheveningen decided to provide the other seven districts with a neighbourhood budget of € 30,000 in the coming years. After all, residents in the neighbourhood know best how to make the neighbourhood more beautiful, more social, safer and greener.

Duinoord is the first district to receive money in the new series of district budgets. All residents of Duinoord can submit improvement initiatives from today until 31 March. This could be anything from a new playground for children to extra green areas in the neighbourhood. New to this series is that all residents also budget themselves under which initiatives the money is distributed. More information can be found at:

Alderman Boudewijn Revis (Urban Development, Housing & Scheveningen) said: “The special feature of the neighborhood budgets is that the residents themselves determine how their neighborhood will be improved. They know the best that the neighbourhood has the most. I therefore call on everyone – young and old – to participate and submit a proposal. ”

All residents of Duinoord can then vote for their favorite idea. It is important that the petitioners campaign for extra attention for his or her plan. All initiatives that have received more than 25 votes will proceed to the next round. The municipality then tests the remaining initiatives for feasibility.

The winning initiatives will be announced during the Open Ateliers Weekend in the Reinkenstraat on Sunday 16 June. Then the residents themselves go to work on the winning ideas.
