The bus platform at The Hague’s Central Station is being modernised. From Saturday, 13 April to Saturday, 9 November 2019 bus and metro passengers will have to walk a different route from the train station to the bus platform.
The demolition of the old roof of the platform is nearly ready. The new roof as well as boarding spots will next be constructed. During this period the waiting room behind the glass wall will be completely closed off to the bus platform. This is required to ensure the safety of passengers. Allow yourself extra time to walk to your bus or metro stop.
Alternative walking route
The stairs and escalators on the Rijnstraat side will no longer be available. Passengers will be able to look at signs and a map for the alternative walking route to the bus and metro stops. The signs and map will show them how to walk from the Rijnstraat through the station hall to the Anna van Buerenplein and the other way around.
For a number of days stewards will be put in place to help passengers find their way.
Route to bus platform
You can reach the bus platform by taking the stairs, escalator or lift by the Haags Startstation Erasmuslijn (HSE) metro line. The walking route has been adapted for people with a visual impairment. The outdoor staircase to the bus platform from the Rijnstraat has been closed and will be removed. It will not be replaced by a new staircase.
