The Van Alkemadelaan-Wassenaarseweg intersection in Benoordenhout was turned upside down for months, but was opened in a festive way on Tuesday. The renewal of the intersection was, according to the residents, desperately needed.

Especially for cyclists, the crossing was very unsafe and the Fietsersbond received many complaints. They worked together with the ANWB, the Benoordenhout neighborhood association and the municipality on a new layout of the intersection.

“The traffic lights for cyclists turn green earlier so that they are better seen and used,” says Alderman Robert van Asten. “In addition, there is more room in the corners to wait. This way there will be fewer traffic jams.”
