Do you have old items you would like to get rid of? Turn them in during The Hague clean-up relay (Haagse Opruimdagen). Items which can still be used will go to the second-hand stores and oversized waste will be disposed of properly. Will you also take part?

All of the clean-up days are on Thursday from 17.00 to 20.00 hrs. It does not cost anything to take part.

Go to the Dutch-language website to see when and where the clean-up days are being held.

What you can turn in on the clean-up days

You can drop off the following items at the pick-up points:

  • Oversized waste (such as furniture, household items, boards, boxes and large pieces of glass)
  • Items for the thrift shop
  • Old bicycles
  • Small electrical appliances
  • Domestic chemical waste (such as paint, lamps and batteries)

You can not dispose of construction and demolition waste during the clean-up days.

What else is there to do on the clean-up days

During the clean-up days coaches from the Haags Milieu Service (HMS) garbage collection service will provide information on waste and separating waste. Do you have questions? Fire away!

Staff from the Haags Veegbedrijf are working daily to keep the city clean. They will take you for a ride in a street sweeper or let you see the ‘glutton’: a giant street vacuum.

Have oversized waste collected

Do you have items you would like to get rid of now? You can have oversized household waste picked up from your home for free. You can make an appointment by calling tel. 14070 or on the page Collection of oversized waste and garden waste. Many second-hand organisations in The Hague also pick up items for free.
