Dion van Rijt from Delft has won the audience prize at the Delft Fringe Festival with his act Dion the Great Magician. His coveted prize is the Golden Mayonnaise bottle. Previous winners of the festival include Sanne Vleugels and De Gestampte Meisjes.

“Young and old have been enchanted by the Dion The Great Magician family show over the past twelve days,” the festival reported. ‘Dion took the audience on a nostalgic journey through the age-old history of magic. With classical magic tricks and the beautiful ballerina Lotte van Breukelen as his assistant, he provided a magical visual spectacle in a (repeatedly sold out) Rietveld Theatre. ‘

Dion himself responded with delight: “I really never expected this. I am euphoric that I have been able to enchant the public during Delft Fringe.” The festival was held for the ninth time and is said to be one of the most important and largest theatre festivals for young creators in the Netherlands. For twelve days, 56 performing artists gave more than 450 performances.
