Malieveld in The Hague and the surrounding area were dominated by a concert by the American singer P!nk on Sunday evening. Around 50,000 fans had come to the concert. “It’s very busy,” Omroep West reporter Linda van Dijk said. With the traffic, it all went well before the concert. There were no traffic jams around the Malieveld, according to the ANWB.

P!nk entered the stage a little after 9 p.m. and could count on a loud applause from the masses. Just before that, Davina Michelle was on the stage. The singer from Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel was in the supporting act and warmed things up.

Davina released a cover of P!nk’s hit ‘What About Us’ on her YouTube channel two years ago, and that video ended up reaching the singer herself. She reacted with great enthusiasm to Davina’s singing skills. The 23-year-old Dutch singer said to be ‘blood nervous’ for Sunday. “But of course it is also crazy.”

People who did not have a ticket also tried to sneak something from the concert.

Not often are there world-class artists on the Malieveld. International stars such as The Rolling Stones (1998, 86,000 visitors), Coldplay (2012, 69,000 visitors) and Bruce Springsteen (2016, 67,500 visitors) have previously performed.

Work has been going on all week to convert the huge lawn (550 x 200 meters) into an open-air concert hallfor the singer, known for hits such as Get The Party Started, Just Give Me a Reason and Raise Your Glass. This resulted in some road closures and diversions here and there.

The first visitors were allowed to access Malieveld on Sunday at 4pm. They got a nice spot at the front of the stage. There were road closures around the site.
