Sinterklaas and his helpers arrive by steamboat around 11.15 hrs. on Saturday, 16 November in the Scheveningen harbour. From there a colourful procession will wind its way through the shopping streets of Scheveningen and The Hague.

The arrival of the Sint is always a popular event. You are advised to take the bike or public transportation rather than the car. Avoid delays and look at the route and the times before you leave. You can easily reach Scheveningen harbour by public transportation. Are you still planning to drive? Plan for delays and diversions.

Road closures

Organisers will close the following roads between 8.00 and 13.00 hrs.:

  • Dr. Lelykade from the Van Bergenstraat, in the direction of the Zeesluisweg.
  • Zeesluisweg (will be accessible to people visiting the shops and businesses).

Procession route

Sinterklaas will begin his procession around 12.30 hrs. in the Vissershavenstraat and will arrive at the Plein in the city centre around 16.45 hrs. The procession will make its way through various shopping streets before it ends in The Hague’s city centre. It takes about 20 minutes for the entire procession to pass by. Organisers will close off intersections 10 minutes before the procession arrives. Keep an eye on the Twitter page of @SinterklaasDH for the current times.

The procession will cross tram and bus lines at a number of spots. The HTM will give Sinterklaas priority. This means that you may have to wait a while for the procession to pass or that the tram or bus will follow a slightly different route. Your travel time could take longer between 10.30 and 17.00 hrs.
