Here’s your weekly summary of What’s On 

This is our top list of events, exhibitions, music, festivals and more to keep you entertained this weekend. We include events from The Hague, Leiden, Delft, Scheveningen and everywhere in between.

Below the four featured events, you can find other things happening this weekend, as well as ongoing exhibitions and festivals. You’ll also find all our upcoming listings with links so you can plan ahead. There are family-friendly suggestions too, making sure everyone can explore the area and its culture together. We hope you have a great time, no matter what you get up to.

Rotterdam Maritime Festival (31 August – 1 September, 7-8 September) 

On 31 August and 1, 7 and 8 September, apart from their own historic ships, many guest ships are waiting for you both at the Maritime Museum Haven on both weekends. All ships are open, the cranes are running and the elevator is under steam. There are also technical workshops, sailing, and on Sunday there is music.

Open Air Theatre: The Tempest and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves (28 August – 1 September) 

Adapted from One Thousand and One Nights (otherwise known as the Arabian Nights). Like all the stories in this towering literary classic, it is packed with cliff-hangers, larger-than-life characters, and laughs galore. Young Ali Baba stumbles across an enchanted cave when he overhears the magic words that open it: “Open Sesame!”. Inside the cave he finds untold amounts of gold and jewels, and takes some of it home… but when the Robber King comes looking for the missing treasure supported by an army of 40 angry thieves – will he and his family survive?

TREK Food Festival 2019 (30 August – 1 September) 

Festival TREK is the largest traveling food festival in the Netherlands and this summer celebrates the sixth edition in the eight largest and most beautiful city parks in the country! From Thursday 9 May to Sunday 1 September 2019, the caravan will travel through Rotterdam, Maastricht, Nijmegen, Utrecht, Enschede, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Amsterdam and The Hague.

Jazz in de Gracht 2019 (29-31 August) 

This year Jazz in de Gracht will take place at the Bierkade, Dunne Bierkade, Groenewegje and Veenkade. With a combination of sailing boats with musicians and fixed stages, there is something for everyone. This year again the nicest food trucks with the tastiest dishes are on Bierkade. And do you want the tastiest poffertjes from grandma Toos, or one of the toast variations of Tostini Cartel !? Then you can go to Groenewegje for this this year.
